Speaking of DNS Hijacking

Two weeks ago I was in India trying to read CNN from my iPhone. Usually I go to m.cnn.com for the mobile optimized version of their homepage. Either CNN or Apple is using DNS hijacking to redirect me to a “local” site, in my case it was asia.cnn.mlogic.mobi. Um, I got back a “that website is not available in your location.” Sweet, ok then let me go to any CNN website please. www.cnn.com. No. cnn.com. Um, no.

No CNN for you (in the Soup Nazi voice).

Yes, I could have gone to any other (and probably better) news website, but CNN is what I had in that particular browser window. This is why DNS hijacking is bad. :(

Fail.
