Introduction:

The flight deck and airplane systems of the new Boeing 777 were designed to utilize new advances in technology made since the era of the Boeing 767, while remaining user friendly to the pilot. In response to input by airlines and pilots, Boeing designed the flight deck of this new airplane to resemble the format of the 747-400 series. Like the 747-400, the redesigned flight deck of the Boeing 777 gives the pilot the look and feel of flying an older plane while allowing him/her to make better decisions based on more technologically advanced data. This data is provided by the planes numerous advanced sensor/computer systems. Thus, behind the facade of a similar deck layout lies numerous changes including the utilization of more technologically advanced deck systems and the implementation of a new, innovative "fly by wire" design for controlling the airplane.
