Although Boeing has used foreign suppliers on its other aircraft, the 777 contains more foreign content than any other aircraft from an American manufacturer. Unlike the 747, where Japanese firms produced Boeing designed components, the Japanese worked in conjunction with Boeing to design parts for the 777. Japan produces over 20 percent of the 777 including fuselage panels and barrels, flat panel LCD displays, flight entertainment systems, and lavatory modules. Other key contributors to the 777s production are Britain's Rolls Royce which manufactures the Trent engines used on some 777s. Other foreign engine manufacturing partners are Ishikawajima of Japan and Fiat Avio of Italy on the PW4000 engine and Senecma of France on the GE90 engine. The 777's composite tail is manufactured by ASTA in Australia while certain access panels and flaps are manufactured in Korea.
